At the helm of Collen & Clare is Vanessa, a Suffolk native and the founder and Managing Director of the establishment. Born and raised on a farm near Southwold, Vanessa’s journey from a career with a US investment bank to realizing her childhood dream of opening a clothing store in 2002 reflects the store’s deep roots in the community.

Collen & Clare’s history dates back to the early 1600s when Thomas Postle ‘minted’ his own trading tokens on the premises. Over the years, the store has evolved, with Henry Moss running a drapery business in the late 1800s. From its tentative beginnings in 2002 to its current location adjacent to the renowned Swan Hotel, Collen & Clare has seamlessly blended tradition with contemporary style. As an independent store, it prides itself on answering to nobody, offering a personal edit from over 100 different brands, both online and in-store, maintaining a timeless appeal that resonates with customers season after season.
