AMONT · COMPACT VENUE PLANNING

40–80 m² showroom and pop-up spaces in Paris

A compact Paris venue works when the brief accepts discipline. Between 40 and 80 m², one primary commercial use should lead, every metre needs a job and storage, fitting, staff and circulation must be protected before display density is added.

Four things compact rooms cannot hide

Solve them before product count or decoration.

01 · Wall
Net usable display length
02 · People
Peak simultaneous occupancy
03 · Reserve
Stock, coats and packaging
04 · Threshold

Choose what the compact venue must do best.

Combining all functions at full scale usually creates congestion and a weak client experience.

What creates value inside 40–80 m².

Net utility matters more than the number printed in the listing.

Plan

Uninterrupted usable perimeter

Straight walls can carry rails, shelving, imagery or mirrors without consuming circulation. Record the net length after radiators, doors, windows and services.

Measure · net wall length
Threshold

Direct and legible arrival

For public retail, a clear ground-floor door and useful frontage may be worth more than additional basement area. For appointments, precise directions and hosting can compensate.

Measure · first-time arrival
Support

A small protected reserve

Even a narrow back room can prevent packaging, coats, valuable stock and cleaning materials from colonising the client space. Its operational value is disproportionate.

Measure · day-one inventory
AMONT field position

Capacity begins with simultaneous behaviour.

Count the buyer meeting, staff, fitting, product handling, photographers, couriers and waiting guests that may coexist. Then place the furniture and equipment. A compact room can feel generous at one use and fail when two moments overlap.

01 · Peak
Name the busiest ten minutesUse the arrival wave or transaction peak, not the total daily guest count.
02 · Footprint
Place real furnitureDraw rails, tables, counter, fitting, mirrors, bags, technical gear and door swings.
03 · Conflict
Test the crossing routesA courier, fitting guest and arriving buyer should not all depend on the same narrow point.
04 · Choice
Remove the lowest-value useIf the plan remains congested, reduce product, hospitality, furniture or simultaneous attendance.

40–80 m² site-visit checklist.

Bring a scaled programme and representative product quantity.

Confirm whether quoted area is gross or usable and which levels are included.
Measure uninterrupted wall length, ceiling height, columns, doors, windows and steps.
Draw the primary use with real rails, tables, counter, fitting and circulation dimensions.
Count staff, guests, buyers, couriers and production people at the peak moment.
Allocate stock, samples, coats, bags, packaging, cleaning and waste behind the client view.
Test frontage, signage, privacy, daylight, direct sun, security and opening/closing.
Verify deliveries, stairs, lift, door widths, toilets, power, internet and approved public use.
Compare total occupation and production cost—not rent per square metre alone.
