AMONT · VENUE DECISION METHOD

How to evaluate a Paris venue shortlist

A shortlist is useful only when each option answers the same brief. Eliminate failures first, compare functional quality second, normalise total project cost third, and keep evidence confidence visible. A weighted score should clarify judgement—not disguise missing facts.

Four outputs from the shortlist

The table should make the decision reversible and auditable.

01 · Pass
Can the venue host the brief?
02 · Fit
How well does it work?
03 · Cost
What is the finished total?
04 · Risk
What remains unresolved?

Use a gate before a score.

A high aesthetic score cannot compensate for a failed essential constraint.

Evaluation layerQuestionMethodOutput
Non-negotiablesCan the venue legally, commercially and operationally host the full occupation?Pass/fail exact dates, use, capacity, access, entity, budget ceiling and essential servicesEligible or removed with reason
Functional fitHow well does the plan support audience, product, programme and team?Score defined criteria such as arrival, usable display, meetings, privacy, reserve and deliveriesComparable fit score with notes
Location valueDoes the address improve audience behaviour or brand outcome enough to justify trade-offs?Score audience route, address signal, accessibility and logistics—not postcode prestigeLocation contribution and compromise
Total project costWhat does the same finished scenario cost in each option?Normalise full occupation, property services, transferred production, operation, tax and exitExpected cost, cash flow and uncertainty
Evidence confidenceWhich claims are confirmed, provisional, inferred or unknown?Attach source, date, owner and confidence to every critical factVerification queue and confidence score
Decision riskWhat can still move schedule, cost, permission or quality?List consequence, probability, mitigation, owner and deadlineRisk-adjusted recommendation

Weight criteria from the brief—not after seeing the favourite.

Changing weights to protect an attractive venue corrupts the decision.

Essential

Pass/fail constraints

Exact occupation, use, capacity, access, contracting, insurance and absolute budget constraints should not become soft points.

Rule · fail means remove or change brief
Weighted

Commercial and functional value

Buyer route, visibility, architecture, privacy, reserve, production readiness and location can be weighted according to the actual objective.

Rule · weights sum to one decision
Confidence

Evidence quality

A beautiful option with unresolved access or use should rank below a slightly weaker venue whose critical conditions are confirmed.

Rule · uncertainty remains visible

Visit to falsify the shortlist, not to admire it.

The visit should attack the assumptions that could reverse the choice: street arrival, usable area, sound, light, product handling, deliveries, services, neighbours, works and handover. Photograph evidence in the same order for every property.

01 · Before
Send unresolved questionsThe owner or operator can prepare access, technical and commercial evidence.
02 · During
Run the actual journeyWalk guests, product, suppliers, staff and waste through the plan.
03 · After
Update the score immediatelySeparate confirmed facts from new questions while evidence is fresh.
04 · Close
Write the recommendationState why one option wins and what must still be resolved before signature.

Minimum shortlist evidence pack.

A link collection is not a qualified shortlist.

Current venue title, address/district and verified public or private source.
Exact full-occupation availability and daily access hours.
Permitted use, public/invited status, capacity and relevant conditions.
Measured plan, usable area, levels, doors, stairs, lift and largest-item route.
Current photographs, light, power, internet, toilets, comfort and technical evidence.
Complete offer with inclusions, exclusions, taxes, deposit and handover terms.
Functional score, total-cost scenario, evidence confidence and unresolved risks.
Named next action, owner, deadline and decision validity period.

A SCORE IS NOT OBJECTIVE MERELY BECAUSE IT IS NUMERIC. DEFINE CRITERIA BEFORE REVIEWING OPTIONS, RECORD EVIDENCE AND KEEP THE FINAL COMMERCIAL JUDGEMENT EXPLICIT.

Ask for a recommendation, not a longer list.

AMONT can qualify public and relevant private options against one brief, expose trade-offs and give a clear next action without pretending uncertain facts are resolved.
