Paris Photo week exhibition venue guide
Paris Photo’s official 2026 edition runs from Thursday 12 to Sunday 15 November at the Grand Palais, with the official ticket page listing the vernissage on Wednesday 11 November. An independent exhibition, collector preview, book launch or brand programme around that period needs a wider occupation for installation and removal. It must also be described honestly: an event taking place in Paris at the same time is not automatically part of Paris Photo or its official programme.
Build beyond the fair dates
The public programme is only the visible middle.

Define the programme before choosing the gallery.
A fair-adjacent exhibition and a hospitality programme may share guests, but they do not need the same venue.
| Programme | Primary audience | Venue priority | Control document |
|---|---|---|---|
| Independent exhibition | Collectors, professionals, press and invited public | Installation route, walls, light, circulation and supervision | Work list, layout and opening schedule |
| Collector preview | Priority guests and advisors | Private arrival, calm viewing, conversation and hospitality | Invitation tiers and host protocol |
| Photography book launch | Collectors, publishers, artists and readers | Display tables, signing flow, stock, talk area and checkout if selling | Title inventory and programme run sheet |
| Brand or partner activation | Clients, media, partners and community | Clear relationship to the brand, content capture and guest journey | Rights, message and approval matrix |
| Talk or screening | Speakers and seated audience | Sightlines, acoustics, projection, seating and turnover | Technical schedule and capacity plan |
| Private dinner or reception | Collectors, artists, clients and partners | Service route, coats, WCs, acoustic control and protected works | Guest list, catering and object-separation plan |
| Appointment showroom | Professional buyers, collaborators or clients | Quiet work surfaces, product review and controlled access | Appointment calendar and sales materials |
| Press content space | Editors, talent and production teams | Daylight or blackout, sound separation, styling and equipment | Call sheet and release process |
Choose geography by guest route, not by borrowed prestige.
The Grand Palais is the official fair location; an independent programme must justify its own address.
Reduce friction for short professional visits
A central or western address can support guests moving around the Grand Palais schedule, but proximity alone does not create attendance. Confirm travel time at the intended hour, transport, chauffeur arrival and whether the programme is strong enough to earn the detour.
Use Louvre–Palais Royal for a legible Paris context
This zone can suit galleries, previews and brand programmes requiring a central international address. The venue still needs installation access, operational support and a precise invitation; cultural context is not a substitute for production fit.
Use character or scale when the programme earns it
Sentier, République and other destination formats can provide volume, skylights or industrial character. They require stronger communication and realistic travel planning for guests with crowded calendars.
Do not imply an official relationship that does not exist.
Use precise language such as “independent exhibition in Paris during Paris Photo week” when that is the truth. Never use organiser logos, programme claims or affiliation language without permission.
